Popovich Panthers vs Marshall Sixers match reportSep 27, 2016 11:07 AM | Marshall Sixers won by 6 wickets | Scorecard
Marshall Sixers (MS) got back to winning ways by defeating an experienced Popovich Panthers (PP) side by 6 wickets to register their second win of the tournament. For once, it was refreshing to have a match that was not dominated with the bat!
Popovich Panthers decided to bat first after winning the toss and got off to a quick start, but lost their opener to Shaunak Chheda in the very first over. PP continued their onslaught through Mukul Sagar, who took on the bowlers fearlessly. But their dominance with the bat was short-lived after Mukul [26(13)] was bowled by Faraaz Hussain. Marshall Sixers capitalized on this by picking up wickets in a heap, all thanks to Sai Charan, to reduce PP to a humble total of 83 all out. Charan and Faraaz were the pick of the bowlers for MS, picking up 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
Defending a low score, the Panthers bowled well but were not able to find a breakthrough resulting in an opening wicket partnership of 36 betweenDenver Bopaiah and Charan. Denver [25 (30)] played sensibly, knocking the ball around for singles and dispatching the bad balls to the boundary.Tarun Sandhu and Mukul were the pick of the bowlers for Popovich Panthers. Ashish Relan and Aayush Ghand helped MS get closer to the target. Akanksha Singh put the final nail in the coffin for PP by striking 2 boundaries to take Marshall Sixers past the finish line.
Sai Charan was declared the Man of the Match for his figures of 2.2-0-8-4
