Cardinal Knights won this game against Trojan Tigers by 2 wickets. The Tigers, missing some key players, faced their first loss of the season.
Knights won the toss and opted to field first. The Tigers' openers started tentatively. There were a lot of dot balls and quite a few chances provided but the Tigers did not lose a wicket till the 6th over. Sushil came into attack and proved effective as he dismissed Ayman (8 from 21) and Gaurav (17 from 11). Bhumik (42 from 29) played his usual game but was dismissed in the 12th over trying to take advantage of the powerplay. The Tigers were unable get a partnership going and kept losing wickets regularly. They were all out for 109 in 15.4 overs. All the Knights bowlers did a good job and Ankit (3 for 25) & Sushil (2 for 17) were the most successful.
The Knights started their innings on a good note as Sushil (33 from 21) batted with a positive intent and punished all the loose deliveries he received. Ashwin (24 from 21) made a useful contribution as Knights looked on course for an easy win at 70/1 in 8 overs. But, some loose shots, run-outs, and smart bowling allowed Tigers to come back in the game. Needing 9 runs from 2 overs, Dinesh (13 from 3) smacked the first 2 balls for sixes as Knights secured a 2 wicket victory. Gaurav (2 for 17) was the best bowler for the Tigers.
Sushil Premjani was awarded the Man of the Match for his crucial contributions with both bat and ball combined with a run out and stumping.
