USC Trojans vs Inland Empire match reportMay 08, 2013 07:06 PM | USC Trojans won by 9 wickets | Scorecard
GAME 2: USC vs INLAND EMPIRE1 : All-round performance by Vishal helps USC win by 9 wickets.
After a comfortable win over Victoria in the first game, USC were looking forward to a triumph over IE1. With a nice green deck and overcast conditions, USC won the toss and put the opposition into bat. Rohan and Vinai continued from where they left in the last game, bamboozling the openers with the new ball. Vinai struck in the first, with the batsman falling in the trap with some clever field changes, hitting a juicy full toss straight to long off. Rohan was unlucky in his first spell and went wicketless. Vishal and Tarun took over from them and struck early. Vishal cleaned up the batsman with a googly followed by a close leg before appeal. After being tonked for a six, Tarun came back, ever so menacing, cleaning the middle order with his viscous short deliveries, ending up with 4-0-22-3. Vishal kept the pressure on from the other end ending up with figures of 4-1-7-2. Rohan came back strong in his second spell , cleaning up the tail with Dushyant and Rana picking a wicket each to bowl IE out for a meek 55.
Dushyant and Nishant started off well, middling the ball and running well between the wickets. Dushyant fell in the second over, with a brilliant piece of fielding, running him out for 5! This brough Vishal to the crease. Vishal and Nishant steadied the ship, scoring runs at every part of the ground. Vishal cleared the rope with a classic cover drive and ended up with 25 not out, USC finishig the game in the 7th over.
One of the biggest wins winning by 9 wickets with 13 overs to spare! great work by the bowlers again with some magnificent fielding. Pranay was brilliant behind the stumps again with some outstanding catches of the pacers. USC play San Diego2 next week and look to keep the momentum alive.
