Marshall Sixers vs Cardinal Knights match reportSep 05, 2016 11:05 PM | Marshall Sixers won by 8 wickets | Scorecard
A thriller of a match to start off the Fall '16 season of Cromwell Premier League. Cardinal Knights won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a flying start with Raghav and Paras going all guns blazing, but Ashish Relan provided the first break through for Marshall Sixers with some quick bowling. Rana Aijaz continued the onslaught with some unbelievable batting, hitting the bowlers for massive sixes. The Sixers dropped a couple of chances on the field too which didn't really help their cause. A change in bowling though did the trick for them. Shaunak got the all important wicket of Rana, and Marshall Sixers were back in the game. Denver Bopaiah dug a bigger dent in the CK arsenal by picking the wickets of Vaibhav Oberoi and Prady in his first over. MS slowed down the run rate, and despite Prateek's valiant effort of 45 (20), were restricted for 155 at the end of 15 overs.
With 156 as their target, the MS batsmen came out with a very positive attitude. Sai Charan Kilari gave them a quick start and the bowlers were immediately under pressure. Meanwhile, Denver provided a steady hand at the other end, rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking. However, this onslaught was cut short by some good bowling by CK to get rid of Charan. Prayut bowled well in the middle overs to keep the Sixers quiet. In walks Sahil Shakir, who took a couple of balls to get his eye in and later went for the big hits. Complimenting him well at the other end was Ashish Relan, 41 (25), who was hitting the ball out of the park with every opportunity he got. They both got Marshall Sixers over the line with 2 balls remaining. What a thrilling finish!
Man of the match was Sahil, for his unbeaten 47 (25) and 3 amazing catches behind the wickets.
